Resilience and regulation are essential components in education that lead to a variety of positive outcomes for teachers, staff, and students. Studies confirm that increased resilience “minimizes teachers' stress and burnout, improves their commitment, job satisfaction, well-being, instructional quality, work enjoyment, motivation, professional identity, retention, agency, self-efficacy, and so forth" (Brunetti, 2006; Doney, 2013; Richards et al., 2016). Resilience requires dedication and consistent practice. You are part of a district that truly cares about you: YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS! By building your resilience, you can better ensure a long, happy, and fulfilling career in education.

Building Life-Long Resilience
Balancing the demands of life and teaching can prove to be very challenging. As educators, we tend to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. This is why it is extremely important to take care of yourself, both personally and professionally. Always remember that you are valued, and you are worth the time it takes to recharge. According to experts, life-long resilience requires: connection, compassion, and courage. Make time for friends and family, connecting with colleagues, practicing self-compassion, and mindfulness practices. Make wellness a priority; permit yourself to rest, and know that it’s ok to set boundaries and have the courage to ask for help when needed.
Regulation: Why It Matters
Regulation is the ability to manage, monitor, and react in a positive way to adapt to difficult situations in order to recalibrate behavior, emotions, thoughts, and energy. It can play an important role in relationships, well-being, and overall success in life. People who manage their emotions and control their behavior can better manage stress, deal with conflict, and achieve their goals. Emotional regulation practices enhance our ability to deal with difficult situations and manage our reactions. Making regulation a habit increases resilience and will help you to stay calm under pressure.
