February 2025 - Monthly Update
Hello, JROTC Cadets, Parents, and Friends!
February has been a busy month for our Powder Battalion JROTC unit. We've had several important events, activities, and preparations for future months. A review of what we've done and looking ahead to next.
Our Color Guard unit was privileged to represent Poudre School District at two excellent events this month. On February 15th, the unit marched at the Timnath High School basketball game, proudly presenting the colors during the national anthem. It was a great opportunity for our cadets to showcase their discipline and professionalism in front of a large crowd. Then, on the 21st of February, our Color Guard was asked to perform at a community ceremony by Poudre School District's FFA! Our cadets performed excellently despite a few hiccups. These performances help strengthen our unit's image in the community and give our cadets priceless experience in ceremonial functions.
Our cadets made a tremendous leap in school by achieving Phase 2 of the JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) last month. The rigorous competition demands cadets to perform exceedingly well in leadership, academics, and military studies. The attainment of Phase 2 is an indicator of milepost reached by our team as they strive to make progress on the subsequent phases. The commitment and hard work of our cadets have been inspiring, and we’re looking forward to seeing them excel in the upcoming rounds. Keep up the great work!
We already have future plans in the making for summer camp and the exciting opportunity to take part in the Drone Nationals at Batesville, Mississippi! The cadets have been diligently practicing for these activities, sharpening their skill level and team performance. The Drone Nationals is a special event that allows our cadets to compete on a national level, gaining and demonstrating expertise in the rapidly evolving science of drone technology. In addition to the national drone competition, our summer camps will feature effective leadership training, team building exercises, and expert skill development. We eagerly anticipate our cadets making the most of these learning and experience opportunities.
As we continue to work towards becoming better and expanding our JROTC program, we're excited to report that we are in the process of applying for a grant to expand our rifle range. This expansion will allow us to upgrade our marksmanship training facilities, providing our cadets with more space and better resources to develop their skills. We're looking forward to the possibilities this expansion will bring, and we'll be sure to update you on how our application is going.
The months ahead are going to be full of exciting challenges, competitions, and growth for our unit. From the summer camps to come to training for Drone Nationals and our expanded rifle range, we have much on the horizon. We thank our cadets, families, and Poudre School District community for their ongoing support. Let us continue working hard, stay focused, and strive for excellence in all we do.
Thank you for your support and dedication to the Poudre School District JROTC program!
Sincerely,
Powder Battalion JROTC Staff
