FAQ

This FAQ area primarily addresses the math department as a whole. In many cases, contacting your teacher directly to ask questions can be the most helpful. For broader questions not addressed in the FAQ, Ryan Martine is the interim department lead for '20-'21. Contact him at rymartin@psdschools.org.

The document below has a couple of items that pertain to in-person learning (like 6th graders having a homeroom period), but not explicitly to remote learning. The majority is applicable in both remote learning and in-person learning.

For students who are struggling, please contact the teacher and be a regular in attending any office hours (during remote learning times). The office hours times are a great way for one-on-one or small group support, and they help build relationship connections with the teacher.

In mentioning that the pathways (shown in the FAQ document) are never fixed at Preston, we have offered opportunities for students to study independently (and, when in person, sometimes through enrichment course support) and advance in courses/pathways. To start this conversation, first contact your teacher about your wishes. From there, you should get an understanding of where you are (from your teacher's perspective) on potentially advancing, as well as some idea of what it takes to be ready for the next course. That will also help your teacher have an eye out for providing enrichment and extensions to help prepare you in your goal.
