Hello! My name is Makenzie Stevenson and I am the Physical Education Teacher. I grew up in down in Longmont. I attended school however up in Laramie WY at the University of Wyoming. I am excited to be at Olander after student teaching here in spring of 2022. I love this school and this community. This is truly my dream job.
I received my B.A. undergraduate degree from University of Wyoming in Laramie Wyoming in 2022. While there I studied Kinesiology: K-12 Physical Education.
Being a teacher is very valuable to me because it allows me to face challenges and learn every day. It also allows me to teach many life skills the students can use outside of the classroom, such as teamwork, self-esteem, social skills, mindfulness, creativity and leadership. I teach P.E. because I want to give kids the opportunity to learn and understand how to live a healthy lifestyle even when they are no longer in a school setting.

Any Colorado professional team for any sport.
Some of my hobbies and interests outside of P.E. include being outdoors. Whether it's hiking, swimming, snowboarding, playing basketball, or just going for a walk. I love being outside, especially in the mountains. I also enjoy dirt biking, working on cars/trucks, skateboarding, and playing with my pets.
I love the community, staff, students, and everyone's willingness to help students succeed.

Empowering students is important to me because it allows me to be a direct influence on a student’s success, and I am able to make a difference in their lives. Through being a physical educator, not only will I help the students become lifelong learners, I will be a fierce advocate for physical activity and fitness, and overall wellness for the students. I want students to find out who they are and be who they want to be. My gym will always be a safe and open place for everyone.
