CLASS AGREEMENTS
In our classroom family, we are kind, honest, and respectful. We include everyone, keep each other safe, and celebrate what makes us special. We help, forgive, and grow as leaders by using the 8 habits every day!
CLASS MISSION STATEMENT
In our class, we are kind leaders who include everyone, stay calm and safe, and treat each other like family.
This is my 9th year of teaching, and I began my career right here at Lopez Elementary! I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Early Childhood Special Education and endorsements in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Elementary Special Education. I volunteered and worked at Respite Care in Fort Collins for many years, completed practicum hours in Poudre School District at Bacon and Rice Elementary, interned with Foothills Gateway doing home visits with the birth-to-three age group, and completed my student teaching at Lopez!
After graduation, I taught early childhood special education at Lopez before heading to Seattle, where I taught 1st grade for a couple of years. I later returned to Lopez and have spent the last five years teaching 2nd and 3rd grade.
I was born in Indiana on April Fool’s Day (six weeks early!), lived in Minnesota for a few years, and spent the rest of my childhood and young adulthood in Colorado. I attended elementary through high school in Windsor before heading to UNC in Greeley. My family includes my mom, dad, sister, brother, sister-in-law, nieces, nephew, and my adorable 5-year-old Corgi named Ziggy!
My time in Seattle was full of growth, adventure, hiking, camping, wine tasting, and unforgettable memories. It was there that I fell in love with teaching primary grades and truly found my calling. Ultimately, though, Colorado is home—and I was ready for sunshine again!
I enjoy spending time with friends, paddleboarding, getting my nails done, binge-watching a good show, finding a fun happy hour, and working in the yard. A few of my favorite things include Target, GrubHub, Starbucks, Amazon, colorful pens, and beef jerky!
Currently, I am pursuing my graduate degree at the University of Northern Colorado in the Educational Leadership Principal Licensure program. As a Leader in Me school, I am passionate about fostering leadership in every student. In my classroom, you will see students practicing the 8 Habits of Highly Effective People, growing academically and socially, and supporting one another in a safe, inclusive, and joyful learning environment.
I believe all children can learn, and it is my mission to ensure every child feels safe, loved, heard, and welcomed each day. You’ll see smiles, hear laughter, and witness collaboration and growth. I look forward to building strong partnerships with families and creating a classroom community where leadership and learning thrive!
