Parents: Some of you have requested videos of what we traditionally do for Original Works projects in a normal school year so that you can do them at home and submit them online. Here are the videos of what we do together by grade level. They are fairly straightforward projects as Original Works has certain guidelines that have to be adhered too. Please only have your student do the project for their grade level, as I will be using these projects again for original works once we return to normal. This will ensure that it will be fresh for them the next time we start the year with Original Works, together.
All projects require 8.5 x 11 heavy weight drawing paper. Copier paper is too thin. Most other supplies are available at art stores or places such as walmart/target.
Please contact me if you have any questions at khobson@psdschools.org

Dear Linton Students and Parents,
I hope everyone is doing well and students are adjusting to the changes that we find ourselves in. In an effort to keep bringing quality art experiences to Linton students and keep students able to use their creative mindset as we navigate this new time I will be posting various art experiences on this web page( please bare with me as I'm learning much of this technology and may not be as polished as others). Please know that as teachers we know this is a challenging time for both parents and students and that these assignments are completely optional and are just offered as ways to keep the creative energy of the classroom going at home. They will not be collected or graded and will not replace the creative experience that we get with hands on work in the art room. But they can still be awesome! You can use any materials you want from old paper to the back of cereal boxes, or even a tablet if you have one. If you want to change these ideas and add more colors or materials, or your own spin you may have, Go for it!
Also as a parent of elementary students, I know there is a wide spectrum of what parents want in terms of work and scheduling so if you feel you want more ideas please email and let me know. Also we know that not everyone has the same thing at home right now, so I'm keeping lessons simple with just one pen or pencil and one thing to write on (paper, cardboard, anything is great)
To students, if you use these ideas or are making your own cool art at home I would love to see it. I'll see if Ms. Schierman can post it on the school website. Send it on to my email at khobson@psdschools.org.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in real time, hopefully we get back to normal very soon. Create, play, experiment, in anyway you can during this time!
Mr. Hobson
Estudiantes y Padres,
Envíelo a mi correo electrónico a khobson@psdschools.org.

This is the initiation well at Quinta de Regaleira in Sintra Portugal. It is a magical place in huge garden full of many magical sites. The bottom of the well has a series of secret tunnels that lead to a labyrinth to other parts of the grounds.

Some other online resources for those who are looking for more art activities to do.
This is whats known as an "Alibrije"( Uh-Leeb- Ruh- hey). They are a type of wood carving found in mexico. They were first created by a pinata maker named Pedro Linares Lopez who got very sick and had crazy fever dreams about brightly colored creatures. When he felt better he carved his dream creatures out of wood and today they are carved by many artists all over Mexico and there are hundreds of different types.
