Lesher IMPACTS

Welcome to the Lesher IMPACTS ELO Class and field trip to Catalina Island, California!

What is Lesher IMPACTS?

This is a fast paced, 1 quarter course designed to help students understand our living world and see how we fit into that wild place. We will study many aspects of sustainability from a science viewpoint – climate change, land use, energy efficiencies, agriculture, etc. We will have several opportunities to apply our understanding of sustainability to our lives, to Lesher Middle School, and to the Fort Collins community. We will accomplish this through discussions and group work, activities, projects, service-learning, and a field trip to Catalina Island, California (see below for more information about the field trip).

As part of the class, we reinforce our learning in the classroom by traveling to Catalina Island, California to attend the Catalina Environmental Leadership Camp. See the "Class Information" tab for more information.

What do I need to do to apply?

You must apply and be accepted to be a part of this group! To find the application, students will use this website to find directions to complete your application, a template for your resume, and to turn in the application. There, you will find the 4-part application:

Create a RESUME using the provided template
Get 2 teacher recommendations (you do not need letters of recommendation, just a teacher to sign your paper)
Self assess your application using the provided rubric
Turn in your application: online via the survey and printed hard copy in Mr. Mayer's classroom (room 12) with your teacher recommendation form and self assessment.
