Welcome to 5th Grade!

I am very excited to be your child's teacher this year as well as being at Laurel! This is my first year at Laurel Elementary however this will by my ninth year of teaching.

I love teaching 5th grade! This year is going to be full of fun, creative, challenging and lots of learning. I expect each student to show up, ask for help, never giving up while try new things and together we can do hard things! These things will bring you success while in 5th grade. I have high expectations for your child for their school year. I met each student where they are at and give them the support, love and dedication they need to be successful in 5th grade. 

This year we are implementing a new reading curriculum by the district that will have a range of diverse topics. We will explore reading and writing together. We will discover our world from learning about the Native Americans to the American Revolution. As scientist we will discover life, physical, earth and space and engineering. We will become mathematicians and expanding our learning on addition, subtraction, multiplications and division of decimals, whole numbers and fractions. This is a very important year to your child and my job is to prepare your child and get them ready for middle school. 

I love building relationships with my students but also with the adults in their life. I am very open with communication and will be in contact with you throughout the school year. Also, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have that come up. Together we are a team to help support your child this year!
