About Ms. Nelson

My name is Lindsey Nelson and I am excited to teach 6th graders for my 5th year at Kinard!  I grew up in Syracuse, NY, went to school at James Madison University in Virginia, and then moved to Colorado for the beautiful weather and great outdoors. I taught 1st grade for 7 years and although I miss the little ones, I've always known teaching middle school is my dream. Math is my passion and I strive to help every student take the slogan "I'm not a math person" out of their vocabulary!

My fiancé and I had our first boy, Tyler, in April of 2022. We also just had another boy, Caleb, in May 2024! I will be taking some time at the beginning of the year to enjoy these little munchkins just a little bit longer. I am however, excited to come back in October and  jump into some learning with you all!

A few of my favorite things:

My family! Troy, Tyler, Caleb, and Reggie (our dog) are my #1! And extended family too...although they are all in WI, NY, and VA, I try to make several trips a year to visit everyone. 

The Green Bay Packers...Go, Pack, Go! Sorry Broncos Fans - I've been forced into loving green and gold for life! You may think Mr. Graham is a bigger Packers fan after looking at his classroom - but true fans don't need to prove it ;). 

Anything outside - hiking, biking, camping, skiing, boarding, you name it!

Water skiing, wake boarding, and paddle boarding - did I mention anything outside? :)

Playing softball, kickball, or going to trivia nights with friends.

Reading with a cup of coffee in the morning!
