Welcome to 8th Grade Honors English!

I’m thrilled to be your teacher this year. Together, we’ll explore some truly great literature—stories, essays, and poems, that have stood the test of time and still speak to us today. We’ll think deeply, ask big questions, and learn how to express our ideas with clarity and confidence.

While we’ll read from an established list of powerful texts, I also believe in the joy and value of choice. You’ll have time for independent reading, where you can bring in your own books or choose from our classroom library. These moments help us grow not just as students, but as lifelong readers.

In this class, reading and writing are ways to connect—with ideas, with each other, and with ourselves. Let’s make this a year of curiosity, discussion, creativity, and discovery.
