QUESTION: What IS Link Crew?
ANSWER: “Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew trains members of the junior and senior classes to be Link Leaders. As positive role models, Link Leaders are motivators, leaders and teachers who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshman success.”
QUESTION: What are we going to be doing on the transition/orientation day?
ANSWER:
Fun activities all together
Meet in small groups with Link Crew Leaders
Find your locker!
Scavenger hunt around the building (to get to know it!)
Eat lunch
Go to your classes (for a short amount of time)
End the day with helpful information
Please be aware that activities, schedules, locations etc. can change quickly depending on current health protocols. Thank you for your understanding!
QUESTION: Is PSD transportation running on this day?
ANSWER: Yes! Bussing will be able to pick you up as long as you would normally take the bus to school. If you have specific busing questions, please call PSD transportation at: 970.490.3232.
QUESTION: Is there going to be breakfast or lunch? Or do I have to pack my own?
ANSWER: There will be free school lunch. Feel free to eat the school lunch, (which is available that day) or you may pack your own.
From the PSD website:
"We are excited to share that all students will receive one free breakfast and lunch daily through the Healthy School Meals for All program! This statewide program, approved by Colorado voters, is helping Colorado children and teens have access to nutritious food at our school. "
QUESTION: What time do I need to be there?
ANSWER: 9am, or when your bus gets you there. We encourage you to start arriving around 8:50 if possible when check-in begins. We will be gathering outside of the gym doors and starting to let people in the large gym around 9:05 or so where students will pick up their name tags.
QUESTION: What do I need to bring that day?
ANSWER: Not much! Please bring a printed-out first-quarter schedule, (and your 2nd quarter as well if you like!) or make sure you have access to it on your cell phones. Knowing your other classes might be helpful too! (Service is NOT good in the building, so snapshot a picture of it in advance if you don't print it!) NO NEED for all the typical "first-day" school supplies. Save those for the next week!
QUESTION: Can I access and decorate my locker that day?
ANSWER: Yes and no. We do have a very small amount of time built into the schedule that day for finding lockers, but not really time to decorate or put stuff in them. It is up to you if you want to bring stuff to quickly put in them, but please understand that time is limited that day, and you might just end up carrying all of your things.
QUESTION: What time does the day end?
ANSWER: 4:05pm
