Welcome to SaberCat 101

Sabercat 101 is a transitional course for 9th grade students in which they develop relationships with class peers and build a connection to the school culture at Fossil Ridge High School. This course also entails understanding and appreciating one's identity in regards to personal passions and future career aspirations. Students throughout this quarter long class will learn various academic skills to help improve test taking, note-taking, communication, time management, study skills, and self advocacy. Moreover, students are challenged to articulate (write and speak) about ideas of emotional intelligence that include but are not limited to stress management, mental health, depression, anxiety, and sleep. Finally, students in SaberCat 101 implement design thinking in order to identify an area of improvement within Fossil Ridge and work with a team in order to develop an effective solution.
