Mentors

Thank you for your interest in working with our Gifted and Talented Honors Academy Mentorship Program. We appreciate your interest and time in helping our students become engaged citizens in the community.

Our goal is to build professional networks and give our students some professional/adult guidance on career/educational exploration.

Students are expected to communicate regularly (1-2 times a month) via email with questions regarding the profession, educational preparation, and challenging issues in their field of interest. Please copy Michelle Reffner - mreffner@psdschools.org and Suzanne Dickens - sdickens@psdschools.org on all emails between you and your student. These are teachers supporting and monitoring our mentoring program.

Toward the end of the school year, we will also give both mentors and proteges a chance to reflect on what worked and what didn't as we develop our program. Some students plan on continuing their research across the three years (they are in their sophomore year and may take a Junior and Senior Colloq/Research Seminar as well), so mentors may continue if they choose. The commitment at this point would be until the end of May 2020.

Thank you so much for considering this work. In the past we have found mentorships between our students and career professionals rewarding for both. You should be contacted by a mentee student within a couple of weeks. Please let us know if this time commitment no longer works for you.
