Coach Meeks, born a Texas native, continued growth in her dance career starting at the age of 2. After spending her elementary and middle school years in the studio world, Meeks began Performing locally and nationally with her high school's dance ensemble. Meeks was lucky to receive several group and soloist awards including Miss high kick in Texas in 2009 and had the opportunity to perform in Disney World's Epcot Center. After graduating, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance at the University of North Texas where she was selected to perform in several Faculty Dance and New Choreographers concerts. During her years at UNT, Meeks was honored to be selected as a member of Chi Tau Epsilon, a dance honor society that provides opportunities for service in the field of dance. In 2011, she traveled to St. Louis, Missouri to perform a modern/ Bharata Natyam fusion piece at the St. Louis Indian dance festival, with A three-time Indian national champion of Bharatanatyam, Prathiba Natesan. In 2013 Meeks had the honor of performing at the American College Dance Festival in Shelley Cushman's adjudicated piece, Floods. After finishing college, Meeks was selected to be a part of the Fledgling Project in Minneapolis, MN and performed works for the dance company 33.97 in 2016. During her years in Minneapolis, she directed and choreographed for all the jr. and sr. competitive teams at West Metro Dance and for the jr. tap and jazz competitive teams at Dance Unlimited. Today, we are celebrating the entrance of her 6th season with our Lambkin dancers! Coach Meeks is beyond proud of this program and all the growth we've endured together, and she cannot wait to see where this season takes us!
