Atmospheric Circulation

Colorado is located beneath the Ferrell Cell of air. Since the state is between latitudes 37o N and 41o N, Colorado sits closer to the descending air of this Ferrell Air Cell but it is not directly beneath the descending air. However, since Colorado is close to the descending air compared to the rising air, there is less moisture produced from the Atmospheric Circulation creating a generally 'dry' climate in Colorado.
