Please email Mrs. Metz. I will get you caught up! You can also check Ms. Londenberg's Learning Page, as it has an up to date schedule for our class as well.
a composition notebook (this is where we will do everything for math class, all year)
pencils, erasers, pens (I love a good color-coding moment! Also, using fun pens makes everything better.)
scissors, glue sticks or tape, ruler, calculator
We use total points grading in 8th grade (points earned divided by total possible points). We will use the traditional 100 point grading scale. (A: 90-100, B: 80-89, C: 70-79, D: 60-69, F: 50-59) The 8th grade team is trying a new minimum grading policy where the lowest grade awarded will be 50%. Our hope is to even the grade distribution between all possible grades, while encouraging our students that it is never too late to turn their grades around. Please let me know if you have questions about this!
Do your practice every night. Use the feedback from GoFormative to help you correct your mistakes along the way.
Take advantage of opportunities to retake assessments.
Keep your interactive notebook (INB) up to date as we add to it together - this will be a great resource all year long!
If you are feeling like you're drowning, just tell me! Send me an email, talk to me after class... but please, do NOT struggle alone.
I want you to experience success! I want you to feel confident! If you aren't feeling these things, tell me, so we can form a plan to make things better, together.
Please be honest with yourself (and with me) about what you do not understand. It is perfectly okay to struggle. That is how we all learn new skills - struggle with them, practice them, and hopefully, master them!
Know that I will do everything in my power to make this your best year of math ever!
