I feel very fortunate to get to spend my life teaching and guiding children as they think, explore, and wonder. I have always wanted to be a teacher and can not see myself doing anything else! I love going to work everyday and coming home smiling and laughing after being with my students all day. I am a lifelong learner and aspire to instill the passion for life long learning in all of my students.
I am thrilled to be starting my 16th year teaching at Bethke. I have been teaching for over 20 years and could not imagine doing anything else! Previously, I taught Kindergarten for 7 years (4 at Bethke!) and I also spent 7 years here teaching 2nd grade. Prior to that, I taught second grade in DPS, first grade in Chicago and was part of the team at Pearson Education in Chicago that was responsible for writing and editing Kindergarten Reading manuals and selecting literature for their basal program. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communication with a Broadcast News minor from CU Boulder, as well as a Master's degree in Educational Psychology from CU Denver with an emphasis in Child Growth and Development.
Thank you for entrusting me with the most important person in your life. I recognize what an awesome responsibility it is to help your child grow, develop interests, question, and ultimately LOVE SCHOOL! I promise to give them my best every single day.
I have a hilarious, energetic, and intelligent little boy named Brooks who is a 3rd grader, and my beautiful and adventurous little girl, Ivy, is currently in 1st grade. Along with my husband Michael, our family enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, gardening, and cooking.
I look forward to partnering with you this year to have a wonderful year in 3rd grade! Please reach out to me at any time.
