Hello Artists! Welcome to our Learning Page. Here you will find resources for distance learning & a look into our art studio. If you are not able to be with us in the art studio, I hope you find something that sparks your creativity. Each activity can be modified to the materials you have available at home. Remember, you're the artist!
Kindergarten artists will explore a variety of media with care and strengthen their fine motor skills with play. By focusing on the Studio Habits of Artists and the Artistic Process, they will be encouraged to come up with their own artistic ideas, experiment, and problem-solve with many opportunities to work both collaboratively and independently. Kindergarten artists will be celebrated for their growth, learn from and appreciate the knowledge and skills of their peers and contemporary artists, and reflect on their own artistic choices.
First graders continue with the exploration of media, concepts and skills explored in Kindergarten. They will begin to create with more intent and explore meaning. Students will learn about contemporary artists, themselves, and peers through creative exploration and investigation. Students have the opportunity to generate their own ideas and to choose materials that express them. Work at the first grade level is focused on making meaningful choices, both as artists and community members.
Second graders build upon their knowledge and skills. They continue to engage in both playful exploration and careful observation. Students will have a combination of skill building assignments and the opportunity to generate their own ideas while exploring the artistic process and habits of artists. At all times, students are asked to stretch themselves, refine their ideas, find deeper meaning, add to their artistic toolbox, and improve their skills.
In addition to the media, concepts and skills explored in previous grades, third graders begin to expand upon their skills with higher-level vocabulary. They learn to refine their work and create more layered ideas throughout their work. Third graders study art around the world, their work, and the work of their peers. Throughout the year, students will have a combination of skill building assignments and the opportunity to pursue their own ideas as artists.
Fourth graders build upon the knoweldge, skills, and experiences in previous grades. Artists will have a combination of skill building assignments, as well as, the abillity to pursue their own ideas as artists.
