(Also known as 5th grade Camp)
During camp, the role of the counselor is to monitor the fifth grade students in a positive and encouraging manor while following district policies. Camp lasts for 4 days and 3 nights (Tuesday-Friday). A bus will pick you up at PHS on Tuesday morning at 7:30 and drop you off on Friday at noon in the same location. Attendance at camp does not excuse counselors from completing all the assignments for his/her classes. Students may work on these assignments each night once the 5th graders have gone to sleep or during breaks as long as the 5th graders are being monitored by someone else.
If a counselor successfully fulfills all of his/her responsibilities in a positive manner, counselors may earn up to 50 hours of service (25 hours towards the A+ program and 25 hours towards general community service.
Counselor Requirements:
Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior.
Must have at least a 2.0 Cumulative GPA.
Must be in good standing with school conduct.
Must complete all necessary paperwork prior to the deadline.

Must be approved by the school administrators.
Upon acceptance, the student must also turn in medical paperwork, the risk & consent form and the High School field trip permission slip before attending.
Counselor Expectations:
Attend the counselor training session on Thursday, March 28 in the PHS Media Center .
Participate in all camp activities
Engage and monitor 5th grade students throughout the day and evening.
To be a positive influence in both words and actions to the fifth grade students.
Follow all regular secondary discipline guidelines.
Work in cooperation and under the direct supervision of the elementary school and camp staffs.
Applying for a Counselor Position
If you are interested in applying for a camp counselor position, an application packet may be picked up in the A+ office. Please fill out ALL of the information on the application and submit it no later than February 23 to your assigned principal. Applications are processed according to the high school student’s first choice of camp attendance. If not chosen for that week, the application is then passed on to the other week.
If you are selected and preliminary approved as a counselor by a camp director, you will receive an email with additional paperwork that must be completed before attending camp. These paper must be brought to the training on March 28th. More information regarding the outdoor education program will also be share at the mandatory training session.

Those counselors attending will receive additional paperwork in the email. Forms will also be available in the Community Service Office.
March 11th: Letters given to those not accepted.
March 28, 2023: Mandatory Training: (1:30-2:30 @PHS Media Center)
