INTRODUCTION
Maker Fair is an exciting exhibition and competition designed to empower students to showcase their creativity and innovation through digital and technology projects at the Kedah Digital Festival. This hands-on event promotes a maker mindset, encouraging young minds to explore, experiment, and turn their ideas into reality.
Participants will gain practical experience work with microcontrollers like the Raspberry Pi Pico, unlocking the potential of coding and hardware integration. Additionally, students will explore the cutting-edge fields of 3D printing and 3D modeling, acquiring valuable skills that bridge the gap between imagination and real-world application.
COMPETITION THEME
INNOVATION IN MOTION (SHAPING THE FUTURE OF MOBILITY).
This year’s theme challenges you to reimagine the future of the automotive world through creativity, innovation, and hands-on skills. Whether you're engineering car parts or building a standout prototype, this is your opportunity to bring your ideas to life and make a real impact
CATEGORIES
Engineering Design: This challenge calls on participants to design cutting-edge mechanical components that will define the future of automotive engineering. It encourages creative exploration in 3D design, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, safety, or sustainability. Participants will develop digital models, demonstrate how their designs work, and build practical skills in 3D modelling and prototyping, essential experience for the next generation of engineers.
MakerTech: In this challenge, participants are tasked with designing practical automotive innovations by building physical prototypes from materials like recycled products, LEGO, wood, or 3D-printed parts. Without incorporating sensors or electronics, the emphasis is on hands-on construction and mechanical creativity. Participants are encouraged to explore advancements in vehicle design, safety, convenience, or sustainability such as inventive body structures or simple mechanical features. The objective is to transform fresh, functional concepts into tangible prototypes through resourceful and creative making.
Primary and secondary school students are eligible to participate.
The competition submission period starts from May 2026 to 30 June 2026.
This Maker Fair has two competitions:
Engineering Design (Primary/Secondary)
MakerTech (Primary/Secondary)
Participation is open to teams of:
Three (3) students per team for the Engineering Design competition.
Three (3) students per team for the MakerTech competition.
Open for students aged 10 to 12 years old for primary level.
Open for students aged 13 to 15 years old for secondary level.
There is no limit to the number of projects submitted by each school. However, each team can ONLY participate in one project.
Each team can participate in ONLY one competition. The team MUST be from the same schools.
