Learn more about human rights in North Korea through research conducted by Yonsei PSCORE members as part of Yonsei PSCORE's awareness campaign. Their findings highlight that crimes against humanity in North Korea remain a critical concern, with ongoing reports of torture, forced labor, starvation, and persecution. A 2014 UN Commission of Inquiry confirmed widespread and systematic abuses by the DPRK regime, including modern slavery affecting millions. Despite the existence of international legal frameworks like the Rome Statute and the Responsibility to Protect (R2P), global action has been limited. However, NGOs and international organizations such as the UN continue to lead vital monitoring and advocacy efforts.
To help address these human rights violations, consider getting involved with PSCORE through volunteering, interning, or donating. With consultative status at the United Nations, PSCORE advocates globally for peaceful reunification and increased awareness of human rights in North Korea.
