Event
On Wednesday, May 28, Yonsei PSCORE hosted a Mock Model United Nations (MUN) focused on North Korea's crimes against humanity. The event brought together Yonsei PSCORE members and external delegates from schools and organizations across Seoul, offering students the opportunity to explore the complexities of addressing North Korean human rights abuses on an international level.
Prior to the MUN, participants received a guidebook containing detailed background information on the case, international human rights law, and the roles of state and civil society delegates. With this information, students conducted extensive research and practice to prepare for the conference.Throughout the event, participants engaged in meaningful discussions and debates on how the international community should respond to North Korea's human rights violations. They worked to develop realistic solutions while considering the unique political interests and responsibilities of their assigned roles. One of the key directives that passed called for the partial lifting of sanctions on North Korea, with the goal of enhancing trade channels and facilitating humanitarian aid.
The mock MUN offered participants a meaningful opportunity to engage firsthand with diplomacy, policy-making, and humanitarian issues on an international scale.
