Yonsei PSCORE wrapped up an impactful semester filled with activities to advocate for North Korean human rights. Throughout the semester, members participated in lectures, field trips, and team building activities. Professor Jung Jin-heon kicked off with a lecture on the historical and cultural significance of Korea's division. This was followed by an insightful session on North Korean human rights and transitional justice led by Dr. Ethan Hee-seok Shin. To gain firsthand insight into life in North Korea and the challenges faced by defectors, members attended a presentation by North Korean defector Maeng Hyo-shim. Members brought this insight to PSCORE's workshop at the Demilitarized Zone.
After midterms, members worked on Yonsei PSCORE’s biannual campaign to raise awareness of North Korean human rights. This year’s campaign featured a campus-wide survey documenting students’ awareness of North Korean human rights alongside a fact sheet highlighting its importance in history and international law. The semester concluded with Yonsei PSCORE hosting a mock Model United Nations Conference. Participants from across Seoul joined to simulate how the international community could address human rights violations in North Korea.
This semester was not only eventful but also deeply educational. It offered meaningful opportunities for students to engage with one of the world’s most pressing human rights issues. In recognition of their commitment and hard work, Yonsei PSCORE members received certificates of participation.
