Can I see or download a student's web history on a Chromebook?

Viewing the History

Families have found it helpful to access their child's Chromebook browsing history.  Google stores this history for up to 90 days. Students are restricted from deleting their history.

Parents can view their history on their Chromebook, by opening Chrome and pushing the CTRL and H buttons at the same time, or clicking on the 3 stacked dots in the upper right corner of the browser and going down to History. This will open up the history page that shows where you student has visited on their Chromebook.

Downloading the History

The Chrome Extension: Export Chrome History from Jarett Lee allows users to download a spreadsheet of browsing history.

The Chrome Extension must be added to the Chromebook while logged in as the student. The Extension is available in the Chrome Web store or via this link:  Export Chrome History

While logged in as the student, parents can launch the extension and download the browser history as a CSV file on the Chromebook.

To fix some Chromebook problems, you might need to reset your Chromebook hardware, also called a hard reset.

Try a hard reset only after other ways to fix the problem have failed. It will restart your Chromebook hardware (like your keyboard and touchpad), and might delete some files in your Downloads folder.

I lost my Chromebook Charger. How can I get a replacement?

Students are responsible for maintaining and returning the power cord and charger that were issued with the Chromebook.  Students who don't return a charger are subject to a $25 replacement charge.

Alternatively, students can purchase a  charger from Amazon.  However, the charger must be designed to work with  an HP Chromebook Model 11MK G9 EE (45 watts and  USB type C connector).

This model, available on Amazon, works with Brookline issued Chromebooks:
