August 2025
Dear 3F Families,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I am excited to be your third grade teacher this year. I hope your summer has been filled with fun memories and outside adventures. This summer, I've been enjoying time with my family including my two children, Cam (13) and Carter (10). My days have been filled with swimming, reading, and catching up with friends and family.
We will learn a lot together this year and we will work hard, but I know we'll have lots of fun along the way. Together we'll learn about the geography and history of Massachusetts, problem solve as we explore multiplication, division and fractions, and learn strategies to make us lifelong readers - and that's just a slice of what we'll do! We'll write every day, in all of the subjects, because writing is one of the best ways to help us remember information and is a wonderful way of expressing our thoughts and feelings with others.
As your brain shifts from summer to school, there are a few nuts and bolts I want you to be aware of:
Please email me to introduce yourself and your child. I would love to connect with you before the school year starts and I have found this to be the most efficient way to get that started! (whitney_fairley@psbma.org)
We will have a Meet & Greet later this summer. On August 28 (time to be determined), we invite students and families to visit Baker, meet your teachers and say hello to some classmates. Our school leaders will be in touch with this information and I will share more when I know more.
Please sign up for a 10 minute Listening Conference. This will be the first opportunity for us to connect, discuss your goals for this year and share any information that you think is most important for me to know about your child and your family. Your third grader is welcome to join us or it can be a meeting for adults. I will leave that up to you.
There are very few supplies that your third grader will need for the first day of school. After many years of teaching, I have lots of supplies to share! You are welcome to bring them to the Meet & Greet as well.
Enjoy the final weeks of summer. I can't wait to meet you at the end of the month!
Mrs. Fairley
