Classroom Book A Day

Everyday we will come together as a class and enjoy a picture book. During this time, we will build a classroom community, learn about each other, our backgrounds and common interests. We will learn to see and value other peoples perspectives. We will practice the skills of  comprehension, inferring, summarizing, and analyzing text. We will also explore the structure of stories (character, setting, problem, solution) and also go deeper, thinking about an author's purpose for writing the story. Some books will spark conversations and others might be just for fun, to enjoy and build a love of literature.
