The Bachelor of Arts in English program is a four-year degree program which is based on the standards and minimum requirements of the CHED Memorandum Order No. 44, series of 1997. The curriculum includes 146 units, NSTP excluded, with 30 major subjects focused in Languages and Literature.
In 2017, the Bachelor of Arts in English curriculum was updated in pursuance of an outcomes-based quality assurance system and CHED Memorandum Order No. 24, series of 2017 was promulgated. Under the CMO, all existing program under the Bachelor of Arts in English/English studies major in Language shall adopt the name Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies. The courses under the new curriculum are designed to integrate theory and practice to prepare the students for effective communication in English in diverse contexts and situations. The curriculum includes a minimum of 134 units that is divided into five parts: General Education courses, Core Courses, Major Courses and Cognates, and Foreign Language elective
Provide quality education to students taking courses in General Education and in the Arts and Sciences program; to develop in them functional knowledge and skills and appreciation for the arts, social, and the sciences.
The Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies program aims to
develop the students' proficiency in English and their critical thinking skills to help them meet the various demands of the society in language and communication;
enhance the students' communicative competence in addressing academic needs; and,
produce morally upright, productive, and environmentally-aware individuals by using value-laden literary materials and appropriate teaching strategies.
