Please have your child continue to practice reading and math on iReady over the summer! Students have access to iReady through mid-August
Please have your child access MyOn over the summer
If your child is attending summer school/summer program, we will be at P.S. 246 located on Grand Concourse and Kingsbridge Road (in front of Poe Park)

Writing Journal
Encourage your child to continue to write over the summer. They may write in a physical notebook or use a google doc on their PS54 Drive account. Below are some prompts they may choose to write off of. They may also choose to free-write and/or compose narrative, opinion and informational texts as they have done in school throughout the year.
We suggest that students engage in writing for at least 30 minutes 2-3 times per week.
Some Suggested Writing Prompts:
Write a letter to next year's teacher. What do you want they to know about you? What questions do you have for them? What ideas/suggestions can you make for the school year?
Write about a place that is important to you.
Write and alternative ending for your favorite book or movie.
Describe a mistake you made and what you learned from it.
Write about a famous person and why you admire them.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? How would you use your power? What problems might arise from having this power?
What has someone taught you that you will never forget?
Write a thank you letter to a person who has helped you in some way.

World Vision/vision del mundo
World Vision has shared a free subscription to an easy-to-use resource that engages children and their parents around reading to combat learning loss.
In partnership with Worldreader, World Vision is offering a free subscription to a digital application that is a virtual library for students in kindergarten through 6th grade that can be downloaded to a mobile phone (and tablet), allowing easy access for families. The application provides on-demand reading materials for students, encouraging parents to read with their children through a virtual library of books written by global authors with multicultural views of the world. Worldreader’s virtual library contains over 400 books, with over 100 books in Spanish. With our library, students can expand their vocabulary, master subjects, build 21st Century skills, and improve reading fluency and comprehension.
