P.S. 307's Staff Message to Students -
Being at home hasn't stopped our STEM Scholars from showing off their engineering skills!
Engineering Design Challenge #1
Challenge: Prove which shaped paper column (triangle, square, circle) can hold the most weight, using books.
Materials: paper, tape, and books for testing
Engineering Design Challenge #2
Challenge: Which paper shape (when you flick it) can travel the farthest, highest, make the most goals?
Materials: materials found around your house
Engineering Design Challenge #3
Challenge: Design, create, and test at least two different parachutes. Which one will fall the slowest?
Engineering Design Challenge #4
How can you move something great distances with something as simple as string? In this experiment, you’ll use a ziploc bag, string, and two chairs to build a mini-gondola lift. Once you construct your system, fill the bag with a secret message and pull the string to deliver your message! How does pulling and pushing the string change the direction of the system?
