MA-P2 - Communication Protocol with Parents/Guardians (Subject to Court Orders)

• 1. Emails and other communications originating from the school will normally be directed to both parents unless otherwise directed by either the parents or court order.

  2.  When communication is from the child to either parent, while the child is at school, it is not the responsibility of the school to ensure both parents are included.

  3.  If requested by either parent, emails and other communications from either parent will not normally be shared with the other parent unless school staff feel that a shared reply is required in the best interest of the child. If a shared reply is required in the best interest of the child, the school will make every effort to begin a new email instead of replying directly to the initial inquiry if replying to both parents in order to maintain the privacy of the parent that initiated the communication.

The principal should feel free to inquire or encourage both parents to always copy (cc) the other parent on email communications with the school as related to their child.
