SECTION M: Risk Management
In order to effectively manage non PHIA related student information, several points need to be determined:
The purpose for storing of information (active or archival)
The tools approved for collaborating and storing of student data
The tools approved for collaborating and storing of employee data
1. The purpose for storing of student information
Student information may include student created work, assessment results and student biographical information. Student information may be stored for the purposes of a personal online workspace, collaboration and/or archival needs.
2. The tools approved for collaborating and storing of student data
The tools approved for student use must be listed in Exhibit MA-E1 Determining Levels of Confidentiality.pdf. In general, consideration must be given to the various acts that determine our actions such as PHIA, FIPPA, and for data that may be stored outside of Canada FERPA and COPPA.
3. The tools approved for collaborating and storing of employee data
The tools approved for employee data must always be both PHIA and FIPPA compliant.
