JDC-P0 - Admission of Resident Students
SECTION J: School Administration
“Resident”, means a person whose settled and chief place of abode or dwelling is in that school division.
“Resident Pupil” as used to refer to or describe a pupil in a particular school division, means a pupil:
Whose parent or legal guardian, with whom he/she resides, is a resident therein; or
Who has attained the age of 18 years and is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident as defined in the Immigration Act (Canada) resident therein; or
Who, by reason of being dealt with under any provision of The Child and Family Services Act or the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Canada), becomes a resident therein; or
Who is designated in writing by the Minister as a resident therein. [PSA 1(1)]
“Every school board shall provide adequate school accommodation for the resident persons who have the right to attend school as provided in section 259.” [PSA 41(1)(a)]
The Prairie Spirit School Division will provide schooling for students from five years of age to twenty-one years of age, and beyond that age, subject to the approval of the Principal.
