IFK-P1 - Adult Education Programs and Dual Credit Program

SECTION I: Instructional Program

Adult Education Programs

A person has the right to attend school until the last day of June in the year in which the person becomes 21 years of age, or until the day the person receives a graduation diploma, whichever comes first [PSA 259(1)].  Mature students, including those with a diploma, may enroll in regular programs, subject to the approval of the Principal.

The Division will cooperate with adult groups in offering continuing education programs.

Manitoba Education offers a grant to help defray expenses for courses in the categories of “Preparation for Learning” and “Occupation Preparation and Upgrading”.  The balance of the instructional costs is usually made up by course participants.  The Division will make its facilities available for those and other general interest courses, as per the community use of school facilities (KD).

Recognizing Post-Secondary Courses for Dual Credit

Post-secondary courses can be offered to students while they are attending high school or an Adult Learning Centre (ALC).  Upon the successful completion of a post-secondary course, a student earns a post-secondary credit that counts toward fulfilling the credit requirements for high school graduation.
