IFE-P0 - Programming for Enrichment

SECTION I: Instructional Programs and Services

The philosophy of the Prairie Spirit School Division is to provide challenging learning opportunities for all students by recognizing individual talents, strengths, interests, abilities, and learning styles.  Teachers shall give ongoing additional instructional support as needed to the students in their charge during class time. Where feasible, they will also arrange for suitable out-of-class time for assisting students.

The emphasis is on all students developing critical and creative thinking skills as a base for self-directed learning and problem solving.  The key focus is on developing thinking strategies which can be integrated into all curricular areas.  Advanced learners, students who can learn more deeply, move at a brisker pace, or make more connections are given opportunities to develop their abilities and set appropriate learning goals.

Programming for enrichment is the ongoing process through which the professional staff with the Curriculum Coordinator recognize and nurture each student’s potential through appropriate and challenging experiences and activities.
