Qualifications
High School Graduation
Experienced computer technician desirable with knowledge and skills in other applicable areas.
Ability to work flexible hours as required.
Demonstrated administrative skills, including the supervision and evaluation of staff.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem solving skills and communication skills.
Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License.
Position Summary
The IT Director is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all technology related systems in the Division. This includes wide area networks, local area networks, video conferencing and wifi systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Give leadership and direction to all functions of equipment, internet services, and devices used by end users for the Division.
Consult with the Secretary Treasurer on the annual budget estimate and statistical data for the IT department.
Administer Board policies related to IT services, and when requested, report to the Board as required. Ensure that a one, three and five year plan are prepared and submitted on a timely basis.
Assume responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of all IT staff, and recommend the employment, transfer, termination, promotion, or demotion of staff.
Assume responsibility for the overall supervision, development and maintenance of equipment, property and facilities of the Division as these functions pertain to IT related services.
Purchase or supervise the necessary items to efficiently maintain property and equipment and ensure that said purchasing is carried out in accordance with the purchasing and tendering policies of the Division. (See also DK, DKD)
Establish criteria for the assignment of workloads and on the basis of these criteria plan, organize, and schedule the workloads of all staff under supervision.
Provide policy guidance and direction to staff under supervision to ensure that their conduct and appearance is in line with approved standards and regulations.
Maintain membership in appropriate professional organizations and participate in the activities and the work of such organization, as approved by the Superintendent.
Assist in IT inservice and training programs as required.
Assume other responsibilities and perform other related duties as requested by the Superintendent.
