The Board of Trustees of Prairie Spirit School Division believes that the systematic and planned performance evaluation of the support staff is a normal part of the working relationship between the employee and the assigned supervisor.
The purpose of conducting a performance evaluation is:
a) To provide staff with feedback to their work performance and to provide recommendation to staff for growth;
b) As a basis to recommend continued employment or dismissal during or upon completion of the initial probation period.
The responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of support staff members rests with the person(s) identified in the procedure below.
Evaluation will be done in the first six months of employment, and every three years thereafter. Evaluations may be done more frequently if deemed necessary.
At the commencement of employment, employees will be provided with a job description. Performance evaluation will reflect the criteria found in the job description.
A copy of the completed Evaluation Report will be presented to the employee and another copy will be placed in the employee’s file.
The Evaluation Report will be used (see Exhibits GEJ-E1, E2, E3, E4, E5) and/or evaluation instruments devised for specific employee groups: Division staff (Division Office Support Staff, Maintenance Staff, Mechanic Staff, Network Administrators, Computer Technicians) , Custodians, Administrative Assistants, Librarian/Learning Resource Area Facilitators, and Educational Assistants.
