Minimum Qualifications
Education
Valid teaching certificate with preference given to education training in the counselling area or the career development area.
Such alternative to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Types of Work Experience
Successful teaching experience.
Preferably, successful experience working in the career development/exploration area or the counselling area.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
Promotes the CTS program in-school and in-community;
Submits articles to local media outlets on related events and student features;
Meets with students to promote the CTS program;
Works cooperatively with staff members to maximize opportunities for students in terms of career development and exploration;
Encourages and support classroom teachers in promoting career development activities within their regular curriculum;
Prepares and collects all required CTS forms and is responsible for record keeping;
Meets with industry partners to set up Internship/Apprenticeship placements and develop the training plan for each placement;
Ensures that all required Pre-Employment Orientation activities are completed;
Provides required supports for both students and employers/sponsors;
Monitors ongoing student progress by regular meetings with both students and employers/sponsors;
Completes and submits Workers Compensation (WCB) forms for all Internship students;
Monitors student portfolios and ensures they are assembled and completed;
Participates in organizing and promoting sponsor appreciation activities;
Ensures that all required information for Manitoba Education and Advanced Learning is current and up-to-date;
Assumes other responsibilities and performs other related duties as may be assigned.
