EOK-P0 - School Bus Stoppage at Railway Crossings

All Division buses shall stop at all controlled or uncontrolled railway crossings located outside the boundaries of any city, town or village in the manner described in the Bus Driver’s Handbook while transporting students.  In addition, the Hazard Warning Lights are to be activated prior to stopping at, and deactivated upon proceeding across the railway crossing.

All Division school buses shall stop at all controlled or uncontrolled railway crossings located within the boundaries of any city, town or village, while transporting students, in the following manner:

The Driver shall prepare to stop at the railway crossing in the manner described in the Bus Driver’s Handbook, but will pull to the right only when travelling in the left-hand lane and the right- hand lane is either a travelled lane or parking lane.  If no parking lane is present, the Driver will remain in the right-hand most travelled lane.  In a situation where the right-hand lane is a turning lane, the Driver will remain in the travelled lane.
