EO-P0 - Student Transportation Services

Transportation services furnished by the Division are a privilege to the students of the Division with one designated stop per family. (EON-R)

Non-resident students who have been accepted by the Prairie Spirit School Division (Schools of Choice) may be provided with transportation.  (See JC) 

In exceptional circumstances parents/guardians may make application to the Transportation Supervisor to have an additional stop approved. An application must be accompanied with a regular annual schedule. Additional documentation such as a family court order may be requested to support the application.

Once approved the additional stop will be continued until such a time as the location changes, there is a change in the family situation or there is a significant change to the existing route. At that time a new application must be made.

The criteria considered when an application for an additional stop is made includes but is not limited to

• distance from existing routes

• space on existing busses

• additional time on bus route for other students

Approval of the additional stop may take a minimum of two weeks. 

Child Care Centres

Students may have an additional stop approved at the child care centre within the town limits of a community within Prairie Spirit School Division.  To be eligible for transportation to a child care centre, the student must be enrolled in a public school within the division and be attending the child care centre in the same community as they attend school.  Students must provide a regular annual schedule for the additional stop.  Transportation will be supplied on a cost-recovery basis.  Costs will be reviewed annually by the Transportation Supervisor and provided to the child care centres.  Payment is required at the beginning of each month or in one lump sum at the beginning of the school year.
