EIB-P0 - Buildings and Grounds Security
Section E: Operations (Property and Transportation)
It shall be the responsibility of each School Principal to establish and maintain, in co-operation with the Maintenance Supervisor, a security plan for the school, including securing the buildings and grounds against damage, incidental misuse and willful criminal acts, and taking the necessary steps to implement these procedures. Fire alarm systems will be installed in the buildings whenever they are required by law, or more if deemed necessary in the judgment of the School Principal and Senior Administrators.
Security systems (intruder alarms) are installed in some schools. Staff members will be given an individual pin number to engage or disengage the security system, where applicable. As fire and security systems are part of the premises, the School Principal is responsible for inspecting them and reporting any malfunctions to the Maintenance Supervisor.
All exterior doors will remain locked at all times.
A doorbell system will be installed at the main entrance of each school owned by the school division.
A video monitoring system will be installed at the main entrance. Real-time viewing will be enabled for the administrative assistant or designate at each school. Access to recordings can be requested under EII.
Any requests for additional cameras need to comply with EII.
