EI-P0 - Safety Program
Section E: Operations (Property and Transportation)
The Prairie Spirit School Division emphasizes student safety through the general supervision of students in school buildings and on school property through special attention to the following:
Maintaining safe school environments.
Observing safe practices, particularly in those areas of instruction or extra-curricular activities which may offer special hazards (for example, gymnasiums, laboratories, playgrounds).
Establishing and enforcing rules and regulations designed to protect the safety of students while under school supervision.
Adherence to legislation and regulations issued by Manitoba Education pertaining to the safety of students.
Including safety instruction programs relevant to activities carried out by students while they are under school supervision (for example, bicycle safety).
The Principal of each school with the co-operation of staff of that school shall be responsible for the safety of the students. The staff of the school should co-operate in this endeavour by reporting to the administration any conditions about the school and grounds which they see may constitute a safety hazard.
Principals and staff shall promote and carry out such safety programs as they deem beneficial to the personnel of the school.
