EF-P1 - Vandalism, Break-In and Theft Reports

SECTION E: Operations (Property and Transportation)


The procedure in reporting break-ins is outlined below:

1.  As soon as the break-in is discovered, the police shall be contacted.

2.  Contact the Maintenance Supervisor.

3.  A report providing details of the total loss and/or damage shall be sent immediately to the Maintenance Supervisor.  This report should include the following information:

a.  The date and time the break-in was discovered, and the person who discovered it.

b.  The date and time the police were advised.

c.  The circumstances under which the break-in took place.

d.  A list of all articles stolen, indicating:

i.  Brand names and serial numbers where applicable

ii.  When the article was purchased (if available)

iii.  The cost of the article when it was purchased (if available)

iv.  Particulars of damage to school property

NOTE: The Principal is responsible for reporting vandalism, break-ins and thefts. When the Principal is away from the school during vacation, the report shall be prepared by the Custodian and the Maintenance Supervisor.

4.  A Purchase Order for the replacement of the stolen articles shall be submitted to the Secretary-Treasurer’s department.
