Support services are essential to the successful functioning of a school system. Management of auxiliary operations is, therefore, an important responsibility of the Division administration. It should be remembered, however, that education is the Division’s central function, and all support services shall be provided, guided, and evaluated by this requirement.
The Board believes that the fostering of a cooperative atmosphere between the Operations staff and the professional staff is of prime importance.
The Board further expects its Operations staff to aid, as far as they are able, in promoting the educational aims of the Division. The Operations staff should be aware that they are often representing the Division to the public at large and should act accordingly.
In order to provide Operations services that are truly supportive of the educational program, the Board has established the following objectives:
To provide a physical environment for teaching and learning that is safe and pleasant for students, staff, and the public.
To provide safe, effective, and efficient transportation for students as designated in policy and procedure.
To provide support services resources and assistance to the educational program as the needs develop.
To maintain buildings and grounds at a high standard through long range planning, routine inspection, emergency response, preventive maintenance, retrofitting, and general improvements.
The Board shall from time to time review the support services provided by the Operations Department. It will make such recommendations and changes to the services as it sees fit.
