Roaring Reporters: Meet the Staff

Christine Carruba, Class of 2021

My name is Christine Carrubba, I am 17 years old, and I am a senior at Pinelands. I enjoy writing and hearing people’s stories, which is why I took Journalism. After high school, I plan to attend beauty school and have a career with makeup.

Paul Fiorenzo, Class of 2021

Olivia Greeley, Class of 2021

Olivia Greeley is a senior at Pinelands Regional High School. She enjoys music, writing, and she’s very passionate about LGBTQ+ related topics. Although she’s never done journalism before, she’s very excited to make articles for the school newspaper. She hopes that Covid-19 will settle down soon, as she really misses her friends and teachers.

Carolyn Kobilnyk, Class of 2021

Carolyn Kobilnyk is a senior at Pinelands and writes human interest articles for The Wildcat Roar. In her spare time, she loves to read, listen to music loud enough to make her go deaf, waste her money shopping, go on walks with friends, and rant to them about life and the books she reads.

Shawn Laning, Class of 2022

It all started in the year 2004... flashback to a time of Nickelback, Chingy, Shrek 2, Spider-Man 2, and Usher. This environment is what created Shawn Laning. Shawn is just your average kid living in the small state of New Jersey. He's a fan of long walks on the beach, explosions, and bad '80s movies. He is a flower child of sorts, a compendium of weird facts and knowledge, and the result of the universe's unbridled and unlimited imagination. But in between playing video games and listening to Kanye West, he writes articles for The Wildcat Roar. To put it mildly, the Biting Bullet Opinion he writes in every issue of The Wildcat Roar is uncut, raw, and is one of the most hitting articles any time it comes out. Shawn Laning is not only a writer of articles and giver of news, but he is a voice to the people. He is the voice that shines through pure darkness and gives you hard-hitting, ground-shattering, impacting, knowledge bombs. He’s pretty dope. OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

In my spare time, I really love to read, listen to music, and paint. My favorite book is Again, but Better by Christine Riccio. I’m a huge Marvel and Supernatural fan.

Lauren Tatro, Class of 2021

Hello! My name is Lauren Tatro and I am a senior at Pinelands! I love to read, hang out with my family and friends, and go on spontaneous adventures. Because of my love for reading, I was always intrigued with the idea of writing my own works. So when the chance to take a journalism class came, I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve already learned so much from being in the class and highly suggest anyone take it next year!

Nicolette Tsamos, Class of 2020

Hello! I’m Nicolette Tsamos, a senior at Pinelands Regional HS and a student in Ms. McGuire’s Journalism class. I have loved writing my whole life so this class seemed like a perfect fit for me, and it is! When I’m not working or studying, in my spare timeI like to make art, watch movies or TV, and shop. Some of my favorite shows are Grand Army and The Haunting of Hill House, and my favorite place to shop is at any thrift store!
