Happy Friday kindergarten families! In room 29 this week, we learned about the different zen zones, what they feel and look like, and how we can cope with big feelings. Our class is continuing to work on mastering school routines, transitions, and being kind to classmates. We worked on literacy centers and the most exciting part of the week: students used their tablets for the first time! On the iPads, students took an informal assessment with Lexia, which assesses their strengths and weaknesses and provides them with individualized games to play that work on their specific high-priority areas. During math centers, we continued to explore math manipulatives and worked on developing foundational number sense. On Monday, we visited the library for the very first time! We met the librarian, Mrs. Tang, and she read us a book and taught us about caring for library books. This upcoming Monday (9/21), we will visit the library again and be able to choose a book to check out, which will need to be returned the following Monday during our next trip (9/28). Next week, we will begin part of our formal curriculum - Eureka math and UFLI. Tuesday 9/22 is picture day - please be sure to send students with their order forms or fill out the information online to purchase photos. Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday kindergarten families! We had a great week in room 29 adjusting to kindergarten. This week, we learned all about how to use school supplies like scissor safety and appropriate glue amounts. We are also learning about behavior expectations and focused this week on sitting on the rug, walking in the halls, voice volume, and participating in turn and talks. Students also got their first exposure to centers through exploration of math manipulatives and basic literacy skills like letter matching. The kindergarten students did a WONDERFUL job walking to our classroom independently today! Please continue to send them with their bus/dismissal tags until further notice. As a reminder, next week on Thursday 9/17, Bagnall is having back to school curriculum night, which is adults only. Friday 9/18 is a half day for students. Have a great weekend!
