Hello Room 27 Families!
We had a busy week in Kindergarten. We are working on being safe at school. Mrs. Barreto came to visit us and did a lesson on safety. We are also working on being respectful. Please ask your kiddo if they have earned the Respectful Rhino!
NEXT WEEK:
Monday, November 24th- Library books are due.
Wednesday- Early Dismissal. Lunch will not be served, but the kiddos need a water bottle and snack please.
We continue to work on literacy centers. We worked on letter identification, sound/symbol correspondence, rhyming, slate work, LEXIA, and fine motor skills. The children seemed to enjoy this and each week we will add in different activities. We continue to work on our UFLI lessons. The children are working with slates for writing and trays for letter/sound work. So far we have learned the letters: A, C, D, F, I, M, N, O, P, S, T, and U.
During Wit and Wisdom, we just read Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom and Rap a Tap, Tap- Bojangles.

We had another great week in Kindergarten. The field trip was amazing. The joy that the kiddos showed throughout the morning was beautiful to see!
NEXT WEEK:
Early Release Days on Tuesday and Friday- Dismissal at noon. Lunch will be served. Just a water bottle. No snack please on the 21st and 23rd.

We continued to work on literacy centers. We worked on letter identification, sound/symbol correspondence, rhyming, slate work, LEXIA, and fine motor skills. The children seemed to enjoy this and each week we will add in different activities. We started our UFLI lessons and the children are working with slates for writing and trays for letter/sound work. We learned the letters: A,M,S,T, and P.
During Wit and Wisdom we read the story titled My Five Senses. We learned how to Turn and Talk with a peer to share our thinking/thoughts about smell and taste. We will continue this Unit over the next couple of weeks.
In math, we worked writing our number. We learned 1-5. It would be beneficial for the kiddos if they practice writing their numbers at home.
Here are the poems that we use to help with number formation:
1.Number 1 is like a stick. A straight line that is very quick.
2. Around and back on the railroad track. Two, two, Two, two!
3. Around a tree. Around a tree. That’s the way to make the number three!
4. Down and over, Down once more. That’s the way to make a four!
5. Straight line down, then around. Hat on top and five’s a clown!
Each Monday morning I ask the children to share about their weekend. Please practice this with your child. It is so fun to hear what the kiddos do outside of school, even if they just have a chill weekend at home!

Hello Room 27 Families!
We had another great week in Kindergarten. The children seem to be settling in and are trying their best to be Bucket Fillers. We are working on having a classroom that has joyful noise and not being too loud.

Hello Room 27 Families!
We had a busy week in Kindergarten. Some kiddos have been struggling with showing respect and listening this week. I know it is the week of Halloween and kids are excited, but I asked Mrs. Barreto to visit us. She read a book about Respect and we had a class discussion revolved around showing respect by listening and having a calm body. Please ask your kiddo about this as it will support me in teaching the class. Thank you.

Week of September 1st
Hello Room 27 Families!
We had such an amazing first week of Kindergarten!
The kiddos are learning and practicing the routines and expectations in class. We read a book titled “Have You Filled a Bucket Today: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids”. We are working on practicing being bucket fillers by being kind, inclusive, and respectful.

Lunch- Lunch Count has been challenging for some. Please let your child know if they brought lunch from home or if they are getting the school lunch. This will help things go smoother in the morning.

Hello Room 27 Families!
Next Week:
Friday, September 19th is our first early dismissal. Dismissal will be at 11:55.The kiddos will eat lunch at school on this day. We will not have a snack though. Remember to send in a water bottle though as we have Gym class.
We wrapped up our first full week in Kindergarten! We had lots of fun getting to know each other this week. We continue to learn the expectations, schedules, and rules at school. This group of kiddos enjoys story time immensely and this makes me so happy!! I started to read the first chapter book today- The book is from the Mercy Watson’s series by Kate DiCamillo- one of my favorite authors!
Each Monday morning I ask the children to share about their weekend. Please practice this with your child. It is so fun to hear what the kiddos do outside of school, even if they just have a chill weekend at home!
Lunch- Lunch Count has been going smoother. Thank you for your support with reminding your kiddo if they will have lunch from school or home on a daily basis.

During Wit and Wisdom we read the story titled Wild About Books and then drew a picture of something that we are wild about- dinosaurs, trains, animals, etc! The kiddos were so creative!
In math, we worked on sorting and classifying objects. Today, we did a fun fall graph sheet with a large die!
