Good to Know

Here's what our current Grade 7's had to say about their first year at FHS:

What do you wish you had known at the beginning of the year?

  • "The school is not as big or scary as I thought it was."

  • "That everyone is actually really friendly."

  • "Where my locker and first class was."

  • "How to use a lock."

  • "What to do on the very first day of school before classes start."

  • "How much fun Industrial Arts is."

  • "That the work is more challenging than grade 6."

  • "It's just like the first day of any new grade."

  • "FHS is just a big square, if you get lost just keep walking or ask someone where your class is."

What advice do you have for the new Grade 7's starting at FHS next school year?

  • "Everyone is just as nervous as you are."

  • "If you need help, just ask - the teachers want you to succeed."

  • "Be organized and ready. Pay attention in Math class."

  • "Don't worry about finding your classes or opening your locker, people will help you."

  • "No matter how much you're joking about it, words can affect someone deeply. Be kind."

  • "Keep a positive attitude and just try your best."

  • "You might hate high school and love it at the same time. Try to have fun and not worry too much."

  • "It might seem scary at first, but after a while it won't."

  • "Get involved in school activities and make new friends."

How would you sum up your Grade 7 year?

  • "The year was good because I made new friends."

  • "Kind of chaotic but good."

  • "It was really good, all the teachers are so nice."

  • "Pretty good!"

  • "Great!"

  • "7/10"

  • "Pretty uneventful, not too hard (then the pandemic...)"

  • "It was really fun but ended fast."
