Our school has created a classroom account with Scholastic Book Clubs, allowing families to order books throughout the school year. Book Club flyers will be sent home four to five times per year, and families can shop from the comfort of their homes.
All orders will be shipped directly to the school. You can have the order shipped directly to your house, but please note that a shipping fee will be charged.
Every order benefits our school, helping to earn FREE books and resources that all our students can enjoy. Due to increasing challenges and limited selection with Book Fairs, we have chosen to move to regular Book Club orders instead of annual Book Fairs.
The Classroom Code for the Library Classroom is RC364759
A QR code will be on the paper flyer allowing you to access the online flyer. The online flyer has a huge selection of books
Please contact Mrs. Gerl if you have any questions about the Book Club.
Margaret Wooding School is pleased to announce that we have established an exciting new program entitled “One School, One Book”. This program is designed to create a shared reading experience within a single school community. A chapter book is chosen, every student receives a copy, and every family reads that book at home over the course of 6 weeks. Activities and events at the school will promote and enrich the shared reading experience.
The benefits of reading aloud are remarkable. Studies have shown that reading to children helps them to listen better and longer, to build bigger vocabularies, to understand concepts better, to feel positive about both books and learning. Reading professionals recommend that families read aloud to children even when they are able to read by themselves.
In January we will announce our "One School One Book" selection for the 2024/2025 school year!
A little about Mrs. Gerl, your librarian!
Being a librarian was a dream of mine for a long time. In 2019, I began my career as Margaret Wooding School Librarian. Working in the field of Family Literacy for 10 years instilled my love of books and reading.
I read every single day, if I don't, chances are I will not have a very good sleep! I wasn't always a reader, actually, for a long time, I didn't like reading because I wasn't very good at it. With the support of my family and my teachers that changed and now you can't keep me away from books.
I am married and have two grown daughters and one dog. I love reading, hiking, cooking, any water sports, but most importantly I enjoy anything that allows me to spend time with my family. My favorite genres for reading are: Historical Fiction, Realistic Fiction, and Mystery or Suspense.
I hope that we can work together to find you the perfect book to get you hooked on reading.
Stop by the library and say Hi!
