Over the summer ☀️, your school decided that it was going to purchase a laptop for every student. After much debate, the school also decided that students would be allowed to bring these laptops home with them each day if their families gave permission. Supporters of this believed students could use the laptops to do their homework, engage in independent learning, or even use them in ways that connected them with their family better. And, yet, as a teacher, you still received many emails and phone calls from families who were concerned about this new policy. They felt like they had to give their child permission ‘because everyone else was’ - but worried about the effect of too much screen time, the hazards of online gaming, and safety issues around social media – everything from unseen bullying to connecting with strangers.
You know it’s your job to help families feel prepared and empowered to support their children developing habits for digital well-being and for being a great digital citizen, but where do you start?
Jump into this digital escape room and see if you can navigate a few of the challenges - ultimately becoming a stronger digital citizen yourself… more balanced, informed, inclusive, engaged and alert!
