All teachers are to leave enough written information for substitute teachers so they can proceed with the subject matter from the point where the teachers left off.
When the teacher knows of the absence before leaving the previous school day, the essential information shall be left with the principal for the substitute.
It is recommended that a copy of plans should also be left with your teacher leader.
When the absence is unexpected, the teacher shall call in (or email) the necessary information before classes begin except for obviating circumstances.
Please, prepare appropriate activities and materials to actively engage students in rigorous learning and in ways that promote active engagement for the entire class time.
Be sure to clearly identify what it is students need to know and be able to do by the end of class along with the specific product they are expected to submit.
It is also helpful to provide some quick guiding and or formative questions for the substitute teacher to ask.
In addition to providing basic essential information, it is also helpful for the substitute or covering teacher to also have
accurate rosters
names of push-in or co-teachers
names of partner teachers next door or on your grade level team
name of the appropriate administrator(s)
